When I got a new bike in 2019, I wanted to customize it to be as functional and unobtrusive as possible. I wanted to mount headlights low on the forks in order to leave more room to mount other things on the handlebars. Also to avoid blasting the faces of oncoming pedestrians. Without knowing what the “correct” way to do that would be, I used the Measurement app on my iPhone to measure the pitch of the fork, and a ruler to estimate the thickness. With that info in hand, I designed custom flashlight mounts (on SolidWorks) printed them out, and mounted them up in the space of a day.
